The Bank of England’s new
Climate Transition Plan for England is based on the findings of the most recent
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment, and aligns with the UK’s 2050 Net Zero aim as well as the organisation’s own mission.
The Bank’s Climate Transition Plan marks the first time they’ve set out their Physical Greenhouse Gas Emissions Target: to limit global warming to no more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. They’ve released the plan because
‘transition plans are an important tool for providing stakeholders with the information necessary to assess the strategy, ambition, and credibility of climate commitments’.
