Meet Cool-Tech at the Climbing Wall Exhibition – Plus a cool case study

The Association of British Climbing Walls annual exhibition takes place on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th September 2022. We’ll be there at the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham, showcasing our UVC LED lamp technology.

How come? We just completed a large heating, cooling and lighting + UVC project at Harlow Climbing Centre, and it’s already making a difference to the business. “The cooling system has made a huge difference to our summer operations. Our wall is essentially housed in a large metal box with minimal insulation, making conditions particularly uncomfortable in hot weather. Climbers, staff and route setters have all commented on the reasonable temperature of the wall, especially given that this has been the hottest summer for years. Comments from customers such as ‘coming for a climb in the cool’ have been great to hear this summer.

The system is easy to set, can be configured to our operating patterns and needs minimal interaction thereafter. Perfect.

The cleaning system is less noticeable to climbers but the air scrubber has been fantastic. The system is quiet enough that you can deliver sessions right next to it with no bother yet is robust enough to improve and then maintain the air quality of a room of over 7000 cubic metres. What is very noticeable to staff is that dust levels are markedly lower which is great as high-level dusting is a real chore! . The CO2 traffic light display has proved very popular and makes system monitoring quick and easy. As a result the whole environment feels cleaner which is a key selling point - climbing does not need to be a dingy experience.

Collen and the guys at Cool Tech have been great. Enthusiasm and efficiency made the whole process of designing and installing the system a breeze. The system is designed to our own needs, and it fulfilled the requirement perfectly. Any queries regarding the system post install are immediately resolved which, as a manger of a busy wall, makes life easier.”
